Who We Are
Established in 1972 in Richmond, Indiana by Mr. Bruce Elder, Vandor began by specializing in custom die-cutting of chipboard and corrugated fiberboard components. Our proprietary products simplified and revolutionized the process of trimming casket interiors and are still an integral part of our company today.
ELDERLITE® Corrugated Fiberboard Caskets
The leaders of Vandor Funeral Products have deep roots in the casket business. In 1989, Alan Elder, Mark Elder and Gerald Davis founded Elder Davis, Inc. (now owned by others) with its products including the original ELDERLITE® - the world’s first Corrugated Fiberboard Casket. The Elderlite “Strength You Can Trust” construction is the same as we use today to produce Corrugated Fiberboard cloth covered burial and cremation caskets and alternative containers. Today, Elderlite shares a more than 220,000 sq. ft. manufacturing space in Richmond, Indiana along with CJ Boots Casket Company and Starmark Cremation Products.
Hardwood Caskets
Originally founded in 1999, CJ Boots Casket Company was recognized as a manufacturer of Burial & Cremation Crossover, Premium, and Oversize Caskets to distribution companies throughout the United States. CJ Boots, now a brand manufactured by Vandor Funeral Products combines old world craftsmanship with state-of-the-art woodworking machinery. We manufacture only the highest quality solid hardwood caskets and specialize in Cherry, Cedar, Hickory, Maple, Oak, Pine and Poplar caskets. 80% of the lumber is harvested in Indiana and surrounding states from sustainable forests. Nearly 100 percent of the lumber is utilized in the manufacturing process or as bi-products repurposed locally.
Starmark Cremation & Funeral Products
Starmark Cremation and Funeral Products began in 2004 and today leads in all of its market segments occupying more than 220,000 square feet of space in its Richmond, Indiana and Lakeland, Florida locations combined. Starmark makes the following value priced cremation products:
- Premium Wood and Metal Ceremonial Rental Caskets and Corrugated Fiberboard Inserts.
- Artisan alternative cremation containers.
- Urns (Starmark is the largest maker of cremation urns in North America).
Starmark Cremation Products are sold directly to Funeral Homes and Crematories nationwide and through authorized casket distribution companies continent-wide.
